Reverting To Freshly Installed State Sublime Text 2

I use sublime text 2, and I have to say I really love it, but some times ago I ran into a problem, so I had to uninstall and install it back, which would fix the issue. I noticed that by doing so it wasn’t changing any of the settings that I had previously, so hence it was not making any difference.  Later on I learned that data folder need to be removed in order to revert the sublime text 2 to its installed state.

Depending on which platform you use here is where to find data folder:

  • OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 2
  • Linux: ~/.config/sublime-text-2
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Sublime Text 2

To revert to freshly installed state, you can:

  • Exit sublime text 2
  • Delete the data folder, as listed above
  • Start sublime text 2

When you restart a fresh data folder will be created, just as it was when you first run sublime text 2.  By doing this you will remove all the setting or plugins that you previously had in your sublime text 2.

In Lion, the ~/Library folder is hidden by default. To navigate there, select the Go/Go to Folder menu item in Finder, and type in ~/Library.
